Exporting page to HTML -- the page in html is too small

Explorer ,
Feb 19, 2019 Feb 19, 2019

It's a full sized page in ID - the PDF is full size -- but the HTML page is 612 pixels wide.

Is there some easy way to tell ID to make it larger?

(It I edit the CSS of the container and change scale to 2 instead of 1 the page doubles in size -- but images are in the wrong position)

Thanks

I'm guessing that this is using the regular HTML export in Adobe InDesign. Have you tried using the following plugin from Ajar Productions? SimpleHTML for InDesign

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

+1 for in5. The native export of HTML from InDesign is not going to retain everything you want.

BTW, the 612px is what you'd get with an 8.5" page. You can check that yourself by changing the ruler measurements.

All that out of the way...what exactly are you planning on using this for?

A client wants to post copies of text from his books on his website as reference pages.

I've solved the problem (partially) by putting the entire page code inside a new DIV and scaling that DIV by 2

Doubles the size.

Now I need to dynamically figure out the scaling so it fills the width of a smartphone/tablet

You’ll never get that to be responsive without a ton of work. Is this a WordPress site?

No -- a stand alone site. And I've discovered the problem with responsiveness

Hi Akiva,

Sorry about this issue. What page size you chose in InDesign while creating the file? Will it be possible for you to share a sample file with non-confidential data? If yes, please upload it to Creative Cloud/ Google Drive/ Dropbox and share the direct download link.

You may also refer to this help article for more details: Export to HTML in InDesign.

Regards,

Srishti
