Font issues in one document only

Community Beginner ,

Hi,

Hope someone can help me!

I am having issues with my fonts in one document only. It says my Arial font is missing despite the fact that it is a system font and is not turned on or off etc.

I use the 'find font' window to replace the font but no matter what font it is replaced with it will not recognize it. It just adds the [square brackets] around any of my fonts (that I know are installed correctly on computer) and says they aren't found.

I checked to see if it was a font issue but it seems to be a document issue.

I can copy the text box with "missing font" in it and past it into a another document with the same font and there is no issue in that document at all, works fine!

I have attached some screenshots

Any help would be great

Thanks guys

Anytime there is an issue in one document open, you should consider it could be caused by corruption. To test, save the file as an IDML file (File > Save > InDesign CS4 or later [IDML]). Then reopen and test again.

It should do more than take you to the folder, the actual font file normally gets selected. Maybe the extension is hidden or the font file's been renamed?

I'm running CS6 on High Sierra without any apparent font problems—using Font Agent 8 to manage fonts. My library is a mix of T1, TT and OTF fonts. Maybe the problem is with the High Sierra version of Font Book, which i gather you are using?

I did not even use High Sierra due to the known issues with CS6.

As I really need to finish my brochure today in desperation I upgraded to InDesign CC AND High Sierra and still have the font issue

I can use the font PT Sans without any problems in other Applications like Word etc., only InDesign makes problems ...

And I can't find the font as OTF to download anywhere.

As you see in the second Screenshot the font is there (selected font) and is used and displayed in the text without problems but ID thinks it is not thereBildschirmfoto 2018-01-12 um 11.26.42.png

PT Sans is a Google Font. You should be able to download and use it for desktop use from here: https://www.fonts.com/web-fonts/google

And I can't find the font as OTF to download anywhere.

But it's the true type (TT) version that's showing as missing in your captures—the open type version PT Sans Regular is in your list and is not missing

As you see in the second Screenshot the font is there (selected font) and is used and displayed in the text without problems

In your 2nd capture you have the missing TT version selected, which is indicated by the yellow warning triangle and the brackets in the first capture [PT Sans(TT)]. The fifth item in your Find Font capture is the OTF version and it is available. If you select it from the list Im Finder anzeigen will no longer be grayed out and will show you the OTF version in your finder.

With PT Sans (TT) selected in Find Font are you saying you can't click Alle andern (Change All) and choose PT Sans Regular from your font list as the replacement?

It worked! In the meantime I talked to the person who made the template for the brochure and he said I might use a different font version from the font set in the template ....

Thanks a lot to all here for the excellent support!!
