Font work in one file, but not in others

Hi.

I have a set of 5 manuals here, with the same layout, only the content changes.

Sometimes I open all 5 in Indesign at the same time, and in one of them the font doesn't work. I mean, all 4 are okay, but in one, the same font is missing.

Make no sense, because it's the same font and it's working in 4 of 5 open files.

Any idea?

Thank you,

Luiz

It might be that the one file is partially corrupt. Test that idea by exporting the 1 problem INDD file out to IDML. Re-open the resulting IDML file into InDesign and Save-As to a new INDD file. This procedure often fixes file corruption, although not every time. Does the font problem  in your new cleansed file clear up?

Hi, Mike.

It worked, thank you. Very interesting and simple solution.

Making the IDML is kind of a problem to me because it usually give me that "Page X has a custom page size. This page can retain its current size or be resized to match the new master" and I need to re-apply all the masters. But it's a matter of 3 minutes.

Thank you again!

Do your INDD files use system fonts, or fonts in the Font Folder beside the INDD files?

Hi, Willi.

In this particular case I was using a Tamil font called Bamani. But it happens with regular Times or Arial sometimes (yes, my layouts are using Times, Arial and Bauhaus...).

Thank you,

Luiz
