Google fonts suddenly breaking in InDesign and Illustrator CS6

Hi,

Since last week I'm having issues with some Google fonts (Montserrat and Nunito). I have been able to work just fine with them in the past, but all of a sudden they no longer display. When I deinstall the fonts and reinstall them, they start displaying again, but after rebooting my pc the issue returns.

Does anybody know what's going on? And what I can do about it?

Thanks!

OS, InDesign version?

From where did you download the fonts?

Windows 10 and InDesign CS6

I downloaded them from the Google fonts website

I have been working with these fonts for months with no problems

And, reinstalling the fonts today didn't solve it... fonts are not displaying. They are visible in the fonts list, but are not found when asked for

Someone else posted a font issue with that combination the other day. CS6 has never been supported under Windows 10 and I'm beginning to suspect a recent Windows update that may finally be causing a deal breaking issue.

That fix must have specifically targeted CS6 then. I downloaded Montserrat-Regular (from its original GitHub source, although in theory that should not matter) and it works fine under CS4. Just this morning I ran the most recent updates to Win10.

I'm just guessing. Trying to troubleshoot old apps on new operating systems is a fool's errand.

Throw in the upgrades from earlier operating systems on top of that (in place Win 7 to Win 10 is particularly wonky) and I wouldn't even know where to start.

Does the font still work after rebooting your computer?

Oo ah yes, let me try that.

Yes, sorry, it keeps on working. I wasn't really expecting it not to; I looked into it and it is a perfectly normal OpenType font. If this one fails, then all OpenType fonts would be suspect.

A question: you mention InDesign and Illustrator. What about other software? (Both Adobe and non-Adobe.)

Put the fonts into the InDesign fonts folder. Beyond that, without full details on your system and InDesign version we can't help.
