HELP! Accidentally hit "don't save changes"

Community Beginner ,
Mar 07, 2018 Mar 07, 2018

I made a grave mistake and closed a file and accidentally selected "don't save changes". I know about the Recovery folder which saves in-progress versions of the document in case of the program crashing, but my understanding is those files are deleted once you save (or, in my case don't save).

Is there ANY way to get back to a previous version of my file before I accidentally closed it without saving the changes?? In panic mode that several hours worth of work just went down the drain

Thanks. Spent the time on hold for Adobe support writing down as much as I could remember about what I lost... There are few heartbreaks worse than losing your unsaved changes.

You posted the same response in Photoshop one minute after you posted here. The answer is the same: when you close properly without saving, the file is gone.

I clicked don't save instead of save.... am i ruined?!

What an unecessary dose of unprofessialism on your response. As the situation is not frustrating enough. At least ask them to share if find such answer (which I agree, chances are that this person was mistaken). Reported.

This is an InDesign forum and it involves intentionally not saving a file, not a crash!
