How can I have both english and Hebrew text written correctly?

I tried all paragraph composers but none get both written properly.

Either Hebrew comes out left to right or english from right to left.

Maybe they got it installed but they're looking in the wrong place. Writing-direction is not in the Story panel, but in (among other places) the Character panel and the Character Style window. That was mentioned more than once in this thread, but it appears to make little impression.

I believe you Peter,  but I'm seeing the section shown below on this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/arabic-hebrew.html (dated Jun 4, 2024).

Was it removed? Or just added?

Ah, you got me there, there is indeed story direction. But that's not the same as character direction. Story direction is relevant for the 'direction' of text columns, table columns, and the flow of footnotes. And maybe something else, I forget.

But definitely not character direction. So anyway, their picture of the Story panel shows that they didn't install the ME version -- not successfully, anyway.

Back to your question whether they got to your steps 5 and further!

Hi @Hendy374084080dng:

As previously mentioned, to change the story direction:

  • For paragraphs (Type > Paragraph or Type > Paragraph Styles )
  • For selected text within a paragraph (Type > Character > Panel menu or Type Character Styles)

Hi @Hendy374084080dng:

Please share the same screen shot but this time with

  • the word refrigerator selected, and
  • the Character panel menu > Character Direction submenu open and visible (use Type > Character to open the Character panel)
