Okay, I give up: I have APPLIED the master page edits. How do I EXIT the master page and get back to work on my document?
I used to know how to do this, but have forgotten. I have looked online in a half dozen places and looked in the InDesign CC Classroom in a Book. Everyplace and everyone seems to assumes that you don't know how to get into it but that you DO know how to get out of it.
Open the Pages panel. The master pages are listed above a separating line. The document pages are listed below the line.
Either double-click on the name or thumbnail of a document page. Or choose from the Pages menu at the bottom left of your screen which shows a list of all your pages.
Another way:
Ctrl/Cmd+J, [page number], Enter

I was about to say the same thing, but was a bit late.

In the Pages panel I don't see any thumbnails for the documents, only the Master pages. I already got how use the Go To Page (Ctrl+J) command, but is there a way to make the document pages show up in the Pages panel?

Depending on the number of parent/master pages, the panel may not have enough room to show all the pages in your document.
You can either use the bar at the bottom of the panel to extend the length of the panel, or use the elevator at the right side of the panel to scroll down and see the pages that weren't visible before you scrolled down the panel view.
Hope this helps,
Randy
