How to fill the empty space of hollow letters with photomaterial, in order to get the kind of capital letters that monks made in the Medieval?

Medieval monks didn't have "photomaterial," so it might be best if you could provide an example of exactly what you mean. Otherwise, the only comment I can offer is that integrating an image and type sounds like a job for a more graphics-manipulation oriented app. What you want may be possible in InDesign, but it likely won't be the best or easiest way.

Hi @Ciliego:
Do you mean something like one of these? Maybe the one on the right?
Is the goal to add art to the counter (open space) in a letter?

Hi @Ciliego:
OK, so here's how it did it:
I only have 30 seconds to record, so my video starts at step 3, with the inner path selected and shows steps 4-6.

Hi @Ciliego ,
Thank you for reaching out. If I understood correctly here is a similar discussion that you can refer to. If that's not what you are looking for, please share a few examples as suggested by John.
Thanks

See the examples that Barb posted above: this is exacly what I mean. The goal is to open every chapter of a novel with a large initial containing a fragment of a photo that is relevant to the story, like in old medieval books.
