Hello! I have a huge key with text associated with a number. However, these numbers are not in any particular order. I want to format the list like a numbered list (see # 107 in the screenshot), but I'm not sure how to do it. For 107, I'm just using a bunch of tabs and spaces, but I obviously don't want to do that. Any Ideas? Image 2018-12-23 at 6.52.57 PM.png
You could do it the old fashion way that was used before the current Bullets and Numbering feature was introduced.
In the Paragraph panel, set up a Left Indent and negative First Line Indent to push the text in the first line back toward the left side of the column or frame. (See screen shot below.)

Hi,
you can use a special character called Indent to here.
Insert the character via Indesign menu: Font/Insert Special Character/Other/Indent to here
I'm using the german version so the translation of the menu path may not be entirely correct.

Greetings

You can do this by adding a Figure Space before the numbers with less digits. (With single digit numbers you would need two Figure Spaces.)
Hope this helps.

A variation on Jeff's solution is a tab on either side of the number with an Align to Decimal tab inside of the positive Left Indent. You can then align the numbers on the period by moving the tab position. Something like this:

Sorry Rob, but I don't call this a "variation'!
