Hello,

I have created this object :

indesign object proportions.jpg

My goal is to have a circle. So at the top right of the screenshot I enter by example 45mm for width and height. But if I resize this object with the mouse it does not keep proportions as you can see in the screenshot.

I don't understand because at the red arrow you can see that width and height are linked (there is the linked symbol). So width and height should be the same number ?

How to keep proportions of this object by resizing it ?

It should have worked, but you might try these two thoughts:

In either Width or Height field, enter your desired number, but then press Cmd/Ctrl + Enter to force the same aspect ratio.

Another approach: use the Percentage X or Percentage Y field and type your explicit numeric measurement also typing mm instead of percentage. Press Enter/Return

Try holding Shift-Ctrl/Command and grab a corner to resize. That will keep proportions, assuming you start from a perfectly square/round object.

If you need a circle, you have to unlink the chain icon before entering the values (obviously the same to get a circle). Then you can link the values, so if one is modified, the other will be also modified.
