How to Quickly Relink Moved Reference Files in InDesign

Community Beginner ,

My laptop had limited space earlier. So I was using an external SSD drive (labeled as G drive) for a lot of my InDesign projects. Hence I had lots of folders and the jpegs were located like this.

G:\BOOKS\ConstructionWorks\COVER DESIGN\SKETCHES FOR COVER\IMG_20170412_1276.jpg

Now I have shifted the folders named 'BOOKS' to the "D:\WORK\" in my laptop as I upgraded my laptop's storage with a new larger SSD installed. So now the updated link of the jpg file has become this.

D:\WORK\BOOKS\ConstructionWorks\COVER DESIGN\SKETCHES FOR COVER\IMG_20170412_105643_1498303133378.jpg

There are many such jpeg links which are now belonging to my internal SSD of the laptop. For example. For InteriorResearch.indd file located in G:\BOOKS\InteriorResearch earlier. One of the linked file was...

Older link (on my external SSD)
G:\BOOKS\InteriorResearch\Set3\Blue_Themed_Stuff\IMG_4438.jpg

Newer link for the same jpeg(After moving the folder to my internal SSD of laptop)
D:\WORK\BOOKS\InteriorResearch\Set3\Blue_Themed_Stuff\IMG_4438.jpg

As a result all my indesign files links got broke. What's the fastest and most effective way to fix those links instead of doing right click, relink again and again in every indesign file?

Likely the fastest …

subst G: D:\WORK

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/subst

To get the subst persist across reboot, there are discussions such as

https://superuser.com/questions/29072/how-to-make-subst-mapping-persistent-across-reboots

There are also a utilities such as "vsubst".

If you kept the same folder structure/organization, have you tried this under the Links panel:

I tried this. Unfortunately, it doesn't search for files in subfolders and gives errors. This is functioning same as 'relink' option.

@arjun02

If you've moved from G:\ to D:\Work\ then @Dirk Becker solution would be easiest to do.

If it won't work - then I can give you access to the full version of my ID-Tasker tool for a few days.
