You used to be able to click on a page thumbnail and drag it to a different place in the flyout menu order. Now when you click on the thumbnail, Indesign want to apply the contents of the thumbnail to another thumbnail, but it does not move. What is the workaround to simply change the order of the page thumbnails? Thanks!
For some reason this was not working so I updated Indesign to 19.5 and it worked the way it's supposed to. Thanks.

Are you referring to the Pages panel?

Drag the label of the parent page; not the icons of the page/pages

That will add two pages on a facing-page document--which is a good tip.
It's really about being careful where you let go of the mouse, but nothing has changed.
Here is a short animation that shows me inserting FM parent pages. You have to be careful when adding a page between two existing pages. (I drag the label of the parent page at the end.)

Thanks, but this did not show me what I needed. Problem was solved.

Since you were not clear on the problem and cryptic with the solution, can you elaborate for other viewers that come across this thread?

I think I was clear. There was a bug in my v19.3 that prevented me from manually adjusting the order of thumbnail pages in the flyout menu. I updated to v19.5 and it resolved the problem. You can click on the thumbnail name and move it to reposition it to another spot in the sequence of Parents.

Thank you for the clarification. I think it was the "flyout menu" that was throwing me off. I wasn't sure if you meant the Pages panel menu, the right-click menu, or the navigation menu in the lower-left corner. None of those affect parent page order. (Could you have been referring to a minimized Pages panel menu?)

Yes, I was referring to the Pages panel menu, which as far as I know, is the only panel displaying page thumbnails. Sometimes my projects require a number of Parent (former Master) pages. Sometimes Adobe tweaks certain functions so they don't work as they normally had for years. A few years back, they removed the Adjust Layout from the Margins & Columns dialog and was a real hair-puller until outcry from users forcced them to restore it. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
