How to remove the greyed out apply style to selection box in object styles

I am trying to create an object style (a drop shadow) to a image in a frame so that when I click on the object style it changes all of the drop shadows at once instead of having to do them individually. I am using windows 11 and it's just that I can't seem to get the "apply style to selection" box being greyed out, sorry if this doesn't make sense, see screenshot.

Apply Style to Selection will apply the style you are in the process of creating to whatever objects are currently selected. If nothing is selected (which appears to be the case) then Apply Style to Selection will be unavailable.

Once you have defined the style you can apply it by selecting objects then applying the style using the Object Styles panel, selecting the style from the Properties or Control panels, or using Quickapply.

It turned out to be the most simplest thing, I only had to hold down the alt key before clicking on create object style and it wasn't greyed out and I was able to get it to work fine after that. Thank you! I found it by watching a video on my class tutorial but I couldn't quite hear what he was saying.
