How to use CS5

I have a legal version of CS5 In Design with a correct serial number. Yet when I want to start the program it asks for. How to come to the use of CS5 InDesign?

Can you post a screenshot with the message you have? 

I'm not sure if activation servers for CS5 are still up and running?

It asks for the serial number or for activation? What operating system are you attempting to use it on. Is this a new computer or an old one that has been running the application?

Hi Bob, Thanks for comments. I have been using the application for more than 10 years on my computer. The application CS5 In Design has been running regularly. Since a couple of days it started to ask for my serial number and now it says that the number is not valid. When reinstall the application it agrees with the serial number during installing. However, when I then want to use the application it says the serial number is not valid. So, how to solve this.

Could this be circumvented? To my surprise I'm still able to install and use an earlier CS4 In Design, so this suggests that activation server may not be necessary.

Did you install it on aother computer? Or did you transfer it from another computer?

Thanks Willi for your comment. I did not install it on another PC. It is not a new PC. I have used the program for a long time on one and the same computer (windows 10 at this moment).,

Nobody here can help with this and quite frankly, I wouldn't bet on getting much in the way of help on software that's almost 15 years old but it won't hurt to try contacting Adobe support.
