Is there a way to set the default PDF Appearance of the outline color of the visible rectangle to blue? I'm trying to be more efficient so I don't have to change it from black to blue each time.
Thanks!

You can create a new Character Style and set the Style in New Hyperlink to use your alternative Style.

There's no way to set the defaults for a new hyperlink that I can see. Normally you can set the defaults by defining the properties with nothing selected, but since you need to have an object selected to create a hyperlink, you can't do it that way. My guess is that it could probably be accomplished via scripting? Maybe a script could set the rectangle color for all hyperlinks in a document?

Hi Chad,
good idea, but I fear there is no preference for hyperlinks in the application or a document you can reach by scripting.
Of course the appearance of all hyperlinks can be changed by scripting after creation.
Example ExtendScript (JavaScript) code snippet for the active document that will change property borderColor for all hyperlinks in the document to blue:
app.documents[0].hyperlinks.everyItem().borderColor = UIColors.BLUE ;

Hi Uwe
I don't think you have to use a script to change the appearance of all hyperlinks.
You can select them all in the Hyperlinks panel and change the color through the Hyperlink options:

Hi Vinny,
basically a good idea. 🙂
But if there is a mixed set of appearances, one hyperlink with border, another one without a border, border color will be grayed out in the UI. The script will work in every case, even if a hyperlink has no border, the border color will be set.
Example with mixed appearance:

Uwe,
Well, I can reassign color after having reassigned the type as "Visible border".
But your "Art" dropdown seems to be also greyed out... That's strange. Is it really?

The dropdown is also "grayed out" because there is a mix of visible and not visible border hyperlinks selected.
Best,
Uwe

Huh! Strange...
With my Cs6 version, I'm able to reassign the visibility of the border even within a mixed set of hyperlinks, as you can see in my gif.
Is it a CC thing?

My screenshot from my last reply is from CC 2019.
But I see the same with my installed CS6 on Windows 10. So maybe this is a Windows version speciality?

Hmmm looking again at your CS6 screenshot, it doesn't seem that your "Art" dropdown is greyed out.
I bet you can select it... Am I wrong?

Yes. But if I will select something there all selected hyperlinks are affected and will get a border.
I wanted to change the border color only for the ones that actually have a border. All others should stay as they are, without a border.

Uwe

Ah OK I understand now what you were up to...
(Not sure it was OP's request in the first place though...)
Sorry for this long and useless discussion
Btw, I couldn't find either any app preference for hyperlinks.

Useless discussion? Not at all.
What I still wonder: Where is the voice of michellec70509878 here?
