Hyperlinks

We want to create a hyperlink in a published InDesign document file (File #1) that displays related text in another published InDesign document file (File #2) The hyperlink must open File #2, display the page containing the related text, and enable user to return to File #1 (ideally by displaying a “Return” button)

You can also build this in HTML5 and CSS.

But not in documents, either InDesign or PDF or EPUB.

There is a way to do this that may suit you. Produce an Interactive PDF with a hyperlink to an InDesign Publish Online document (and that document can include a link back to the PDF) and publish the first document to a third party site such as PaperTurn.
