You need to apply it. Easiest way is to drag it onto the live page you want if it's just one..

You have to apply it to the pages you want it applied to.

I'm new to InDesign and am having a similar problem. I've created a Parent Page and placed a text frame on each of the two pages in the spread. When I try to apply it to the several document pages I've created, the text boxes do not appear. I know I'm overlooking some step or setting, but cannot figure it out.

Hi Bob:

You may not see them, but InDesign will. A weird thing about text frames is that if you draw them directly on the margin/column guides, the edges disappear behind them.

Go ahead and place your text on the body pages assigned those parent pages with the text frames. As you hover over the frame, the loaded text cursor will show a pair of parentheses indicating that it sees the frame.

Edit: I'm not sure I explained it very well 😅 so here's a quick video: you can see the frame edges of the smaller frame on the left parent page but not the one I snapped to the margins on the right. The cursor switches to show (  ) when I hover over an empty text frame. Click when you see the parentheses.

Hi @bob 609 When you apply a parent to a page the page icon should show it’s prefix—A in this case

Parent Page items will generally show as a dotted line when you view in Normal Mode (not Preview or Bleed Mode)

When your release a Parent Page Item (Shift-Command Click it on a Mac) it becomes a Page Item, the dotted line becomes solid

If you are not seeing your Parrent Page items check View>Extras and make sure Show Frame Edges is selected
