I've grouped two objects but can still resize them individually. Why is this?

I've grouped an image (an Illustrator file) and a circle together in InDesign. However, when I try to resize the entire group (by selecting it in the Layer window and pulling on a corner of the group) only the circle resizes. Why is this, and how can I make it so the entire group resizes?

Ah. Now I see. The graphic frame will resize, but not its contents.

For that use the Scale Tool.

In order to resize any objects by dragging you need to first make sure that they have been selected with the regular selection tool (black arrow). Objects or groups of objects selected in this manner will show a "Bounding Box" (similar to the one that appears in Illustrator) around the outer extremes of the object(s). This bounding box will display white squares at the corners and midpoints of each side. Dragging on one of these squares while holding down the Command key on a Mac or the Control

Hi Joely,

even if you are IN the group, when all grouped items are selected, one could resize all elements in one go.

Example, 3 items selected in a group. I can resize the selection, all items together, without an issue:

Hi Rota,

could you post a screenshot showing your selection together with the Layers panel expanded that is showing what exactly is selected item for item? And also show the active tool.

What's your version of InDesign and operating system?

Holding the shift key while dragging will keep the object(s) in their original proportions.
