Since we updated to CC, I have a very good chance of this not working evey time I try it. Maybe 10% of the time, it will select the word/line as it should. My prefs are identical for this feature as they have for the past several version of InDesign. We have the same problem on two Macs here. My partner also has trouble with copy/paste in InDesign and Illustrator as well.
Anyone experiencing the same?

Hi Ravi,
Here is my setup:
InDesign CC 11.4.0.90
2013 iMac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6
Behavior in older versions of InDesign:
- Without selecting the text box first, I can triple click on the text and it will highlight the entire line in a text box
Behavior in this version of InDesign:
- If I do the same action described above, triple clicking only puts my cursor in the text box
- Then I have to triple click to select the line
- So you need to put your cursor in the text box first and then triple click to select the line
Essentially, in the new version, selecting a line is a 2-step action rather than a 1-step action.

I agree that there are multiple issues with Adobe products dealing with multiple clicks. I don't have Wacom drivers and am using Dreamweaver 2015.2 on a Windows 7 computer. At least 90% of the time, triple clicking on a paragraph in the Design view window only selects the paragraph in the Code view window. So if you are not in split screen view (again, this is Dreamweaver), you can't tell that the paragraph has been selected. If you press Delete after triple clicking, the entire paragraph will be deleted even though the text doesn't appear selected. I haven't figured out why the paragraph sometimes (and rarely) appears selected. And as Andrew said, it's a small problem, but encountering small user-interface problems throughout the day is what keeps me looking for alternatives to Adobe products.

Be used to your keyboard HOME, SHIFT+↓, CTRL+SHIFT+↓. and leave your mouse.

Although keyboard shortcuts are handy when you're already working in the text box, sometimes you're not, and sometimes you already have your hand on the mouse and multiple clicks are the quickest way to select things. Anyway, the issue is that advertised functionality does not work as it should, regardless of one's preferred workflow.

I've been having a similar problem.
Most of the time I have to click outside the frame and then come back into the frame to get the double/triple clicks to work.

OK I just hear back from Wacom and they did say that it is a bug and they were able to reproduce my complaint in their driver and logged it in and are working on it.
You can uninstall and then install an older version that worked. 6.3.15 (?)
I know this thread has splintered off into more than just the triple click/selecting lines of copy but this issue has nothing to do with Adobe products as it is a Wacom issue and behaves this way with any program with text in it.
Hope this helps some.

Just wanted to check in on this. Any other word from Wacom on a driver update/hot fix? Still harried by the lack of a triple click!

This link to install an older driver was the last I heard from Wacom and it did solve the triple click issue. No word on if/when they will update and fix the issue.

You need to turn down the click speed in Settings>Mouse from Fastest to maybe two steps down. The fastest click setting is TOO fast. I thought it was my mouse not working properly since I wasn't able to open files on my desktop, in addition to the double-click issue in InDesign. Adjusting the click speed in the Mouse settings fixed the problem.

Hi,
Though an old thread, but this issue has with fixed with CC 2018.0 version of Indesign. Now ”multiple” clicks would work like they did in CS6.
Please let us know the steps in case anyone does see issues with ”multiple” clicks with CC 2018.0

Amaaaaazing! This, along with the enlarged reference point grid, is the best feature of the 2018 release. Taking care of small irritations brings so much more benefit (in my eyes) than a fancy brand new feature that I'll likely never use.

LOL. I've had this problem for literally years, ever since I switched from Mac to Windows, which was probably coincidentally around the switch from CS6 to CC. I've just worked with it, as annoying as it is. Still haven't upgraded to CC2018 because I always take my time doing that, since it always seems to break a hundred things, but maybe I will now.

It's 2019 and they're showing me something from 2013. I'm using Brackets, an Adobe scriptwriting software and when I preview my pages, my links required they be clicked 2 times (double-click). Oh well, thanks just the same in 2019 🙂
