I tried fixing a paragraph style from one version to another within the same document and InDesign crashes each time I get to the same point (ex. Chapter 11). I do not have this issue with any other document in InDesign but this one. Any ideas why this happening and any solutions? Thank you! 🙂

Hi, leo.r I am using Indesign 2025, version 20.2, macOS. This is only happening with one document. I opened and edited another file in Indesign and didn't encounter any issues.

Hi @joyk,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you share which version of InDesign you’re using and your OS details, as requested by the expert? Also, just to clarify, are you making changes to a paragraph style that was originally created in an earlier version of InDesign?

 I couldn’t find any reports linked to your community email. Could you try submitting it again and include your email address when submitting? After that, send me a DM with the email you used, so I can check and get it investigated. Ref: Submit Crash Reports.

Also, could you try saving the file as IDML, then reopening it to see if the crash still happens? Sometimes this helps clean up any file corruption.

Hi, Abhishek Rao! I submitted a crash report anytime it was offered after crashes. I saved the file as IDML and in a new document, but the problem persisted in the exact same spot in the file. I am about to attempt to make edits to this file again after a few days. If it crashes, I will do as you suggested. Thank you!

@joyk

If IDMLing, mentioned by @Abhishek Rao won't work - create a new document, with exactly the same page size - then move all pages to the beginning of this new document.

Hi @joyk,

Checking if you were able to resolve the issue? If not, let me know if moving pages to a new document suggestion helped. Also, if you found a fix, it would be great if you could share it here in the community so others facing a similar issue can benefit. Looking forward to your update!
