HELP!!!! Just updated CC 2019 14.1 and it keeps crashing without me doing anything to it. Anyone can resolve this?
I am on High Sierra 10.13.6, 3.5 GHz 6-Core with 32GB.
This issue is now fixed in the latest update (Id 14.0.1) of InDesign CC.
If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
Once the update button is shown against InDesign CC, click on the button to update your InDesign to Id 14.0.1 for the fix of the issue.
Do let us know in the comments, if you face any problem with the new update.

Hi Philip,
I assume you answered by mail.
With that everything you attached is not visible in the forum.
You may add a video to a new reply by using the forum's "Insert Video" button or you can provide a link to a video file uploaded to Dropbox or a similar service.

Sorry, Philip, there's still an empty space where the video should show.
I'm using Firefox on Windows 10.
AH! It's working with Google Chrome browser.
Already in your previous reply.

As I can see from your video you have a message saying "Do you want to start automatic recovery?".
Did you open a document recently and this failed?

Uwe

Yes. There was a document that was created by a co-worker who was using CC 2019 14.1. I tried to open it once and than it crash. Since than I tried cancel it or click no, CC 2019 14.1 keep crashing. Yesterday was the first time I download and open CC 2019 14.1.

To get rid of the message at all do two things:
1. If it is present, remove the corresponding idlk file of the failed opening process of the InDesign document.
2. Remove your cached data.
Or tell the dialog you want no recovery at all.

Uwe

When on OS X you may find your cached data here:
~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 14.0/

I had remove/delete that file already. Also I had tell the dialog no recovery. But the dialog keeps open it up every time after ID crash. Also, I tried remove the ID 14.1 than reinstall, but that didn't work either

Did you really remove the Version 14.0 folder in ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/ ?
Are any previous versions of InDesign installed?

Uwe

We are aware of the issue related to InDesign crash on launch. There is a workaround to prevent the crash:
Go to Finder/Applications/Utilities folder and double-click Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type the following and press Return:export LOGNAME=<username>where <username> is the user id with which you are logged in.
Type open <"path to InDesign application"> and press Return. For example, if your user id is johndoe and InDesign is installed at the default location, then type the following:export LOGNAME=johndoeopen "/Applications/Adobe InDesign CC 2019/Adobe InDesign CC 2019.app"

Hi sanyamt ,
I don't think it's a Crash On Launch.
At least not exactly.
The crash happens when answering the message "Do you want to start automatic recovery?".
So the remedy should be to trash the idlk file and all the cache data.

Uwe

Hi Uwe,
We are aware of the crash and it is observed on launching InDesign. Even if the customer trashes InDesign cache and preference, the crash will still continue to happen.

Hi Uwe,
Even by select "Cancel"or "No", ID still crash. It didn't crash right away. It took about 4~5 sec. ID Case & preference trashed, but still crash...

Hi there,
I'm having the very same issue as outlined by Starwar above, even after the update to 14.0.1.
Is there anything I try or do to address it?
