Updated Indesign last week, and it's really really slow.
Lots of lagging - very sluggish in moving things around, menus slow to respond etc. Very frustrating.
Colleague has the same issue both at work and on personal Mac.
Using Mac fully spec'd up to meet requirements.
Help!

I was experiencing the sluggishness issue as well and tried all the typical suggestions: deleting prefs, setting the the draw to delayed and/or instant, running different utilities to find out if something in the CPU processes was eating up cycles or something...
...what finally fixed it, for me anyhow, was rebooting to safe mode (boot and hold the Shift key at the grey screen), let if load the system which took a VERY long time. I then launched InDesign (without any preferences), and of course I got messages that fonts weren't available. But I checked and all the menus and redraws were real-time and not the 5-10 second delayed that I had previously been seeing.
...I then shut down InDesign and then rebooted back into normal mode.
When I launched InDesign, and after restoring my old pref files, it ran as though it were a new install and all the delays are gone. No lag, nor sluggishness.
No idea what that process might have cleared/reset/purged or whatnot, but, it worked, at least for me.

Ive tried all these possible solutions stated in the previous replies. my indd 2015 has since been acting even worse today! I created a BLANK new file with only 8 pages and it was freezing upon scrolling. Also now my drop down menus are freezing, and if I try to save and type in a name to save it as, that is freezing too. I am confused as to why there is not a fix for this? going back to INDD is NOT a solution, especially when the company has all updated to 2015.

How are the rest of the computers going? If it's just yours playing up, now would be a perfect opportunity to see of you have a slightly different setup and narrow down potential causes!

SangerEby: your solution seems to have fixed my problem too! Thank you!!!

So I tried the CCLibrary Activity Monitor solution and that didn't seem to work.
BUT I found out something that did - this would be for anyone working off a server/network. Someone had swapped out my Thunderbolt ethernet/firewire adaptor for a USB ethernet/firewire adaptor. My coworker has INDD CC 2015 but did not have the same issues I was having w/the same files, then we noticed my adaptor was USB. We switched it w/the Thunderbolt adaptor and everything now seems fine!

Thanks for reporting that. Hopefully it helps someone else and the Adobe engineers in tracking down the issue.

update: Towards the end of the day I started having the same lag issues with INDD. The only thing that helped was quitting INDD and doing a "force quit" for CCLibraries in the Activity Monitor. This would work for a while, but then CCLibraries would show up in the Activity Monitor again (is this supposed to happen?) so I had to quit INDD again and force quit CCLibraries again....

This solution worked for me. Thanks!

Yep me too, all was great for a while and then the issues creep back. Again shut down all CC 2015 apps, force quite CCLibraries and back to normal.
I'm betting CCLibraries is a background operation on launch of any CC 2015 product.
I know its mega frustrating guys, but keep the comments coming, all this stuff helps get to the issue (and theres likely different issues for different platforms it seems) :^P

It's hard to go back to 2014 when we've produced a lot in 2015 version. I end up having a laptop next to me with 2015 to convert to IDML to be able to open a 2015 doc in 2014 version. Total pain and waste of time. I've also tried quitting the CC libraries, which works until I shut the program down for the day. My quick fix: I have a shortcut to the CC libraries so I quit the libraries every morning before opening ID 2015.
PLEASE, ADOBE, WE DESPERATELY NEED A FIX FOR THIS! We cannot afford the wasted time to get projects completed.

Since this is a very long thread, those who have posted recently should know that this solution fixes the problems for many:
There is a bug in the CC Library process (which shows assets in the CC Library) which causes severe slowdown problems:
Creative Cloud Libraries panel doesn't load in desktop products

Thanks Steve,
It's good to know that they're working on the issue. This quick fix does indeed work, however, each time you close InDesign, you have to go through all these steps again before opening the program again. At least there's something to work with. Crossing fingers that the long term solution comes soon.

Unfortunately killing the CCLib stuff don't work for me (win 7 64 bit), i'llclose all the CC program and stuff, kill the CClibrary process via task manager, but once i restart IDCC15 ...well, is still slow and freeze (and the CCProcess pop up again once i restart the program).
Tryed to unistall CC app and ID2015, installated CS& ...well is even more slow; don't know what to think or do, is very frustating.

Lets just chalk this one up as ADOBE TOTALLY SCREWED the program up.. Rather than worrying about all the useless stuff they can add to the program. Fix the Freaking thing and go from there!

If you are logged in to Creative Cloud, you can open 2015 documents in the CC 2014 version. It treats it like an IDML file. But you must be logged in to your CC account.

Hi,
I also have problems with last update of InDesign CC 2015 which is slower than CC 2014.
I tried resetting preferences, booting in safe mode, deactivating all fonts… Without any success.
The problem is that page thumbnails generate very slowly and that there is some lag navigating through pages.
I'm on Yosemite 10.10.5 and have a 2014 MacBook Pro 15" Retina

This thing mentioned is really a big problem here at our bureau!
Got exactly the same problem - my colleague's has not updated with the latest patch and is working perfectly ok without lags, cursor problems and so on.
On my workstation everything is slow and unresponsive. Things don't move for 1-2 seconds.
Tried all suggestions and they don't work.
So there's no doubt, that the latest update is bugged - i'm one of the poor sods, who updated in our firm and currently in deep sh*t
We seriously need a hot fix asap!

My issues started two days ago when Extensis Suitcase Fusion 6 started acting up trying to activate fonts. Was not having any problems until then.
After trying everything mentioned on this thread I went ahead and uninstalled Suitcase Fusion first, restarted, uninstalled InDesign CC 2015, restarted, re-installed InDesign, restarted and finally reinstalled Suitcase. Been running for the past hour without any lags so for me it had to do with an issue with InDesign trying to use a corrupted plugin/app that couldn't be refreshed without uninstalling and reinstalling both.
I probably could have tried to reinstalling just the Suitcase plugin but didn't want to spend a lot of time with trial-and-error search/delete/add/repeating files when 30 minutes to uninstall and reinstall fixed it.

My problems started on late july with the last update, since that update ID cc15 become pratically unusable.
I can open files and work but after a while everythink freeze or become slow. I know is not a computer related problem becouse before everything was working fine. Tryed all, killing CClibrary, trashing preference, tryed cc2014, changing Number of Recent Items to Display to 0 ...nothing has solved the problem. It seems to me problem is somehow related to fonts or preview ...but i don't sure, i am not an expert; what i know is that i am tired and upset.
btw i am on win 7.

If you have to use it, you can completely fix the problem by uninstalling
2015 and reinstalling 2014. When I did it, the main CC app wouldn't show me
the older 2014 ID, PS, etc. I had to uninstall and reinstall it (the CC
app), too. Then it showed the earlier versions, they reinstalled, and
everything works PERFECTLY, just like it did before we upgraded to 2015.
(I'm also using Windows 7-64)
