good morning, indesign keeps crashing for the last four days out of the blue, without having ‘touched’ anything, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program dozens of times, deleted preferences, deleted the application from everywhere on the pc even emptied the recycle bin, I have also deleted the application cache.
I have also used adobe creative cloud cleaner tool and followed the instructions.
I have also tried installing earlier versions than the latest and also indesign beta, I have rebooted the pc and also turned off. Indesign always shows a crash, my pc is MacBook Pro M4 and other people with the same pc do not experience this problem, I don't think it is the problem, I kindly request your assistance, urgently.

Hello @YENI TATIANA SARTORI,

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information about the issue. I understand how frustrating it must be to face repeated crashes despite all your efforts. Let’s work together to resolve this.

To begin with, could you confirm the following details?

  1. Did you make any changes to the application settings, configuration, or install any plugins before the crashes started?

  2. Have you tried opening InDesign in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists? You can follow this guide to boot your Mac in Safe Mode.

  3. Crash Instances:

    • At what point does the application crash? Is it during launch or while performing specific actions?
    • If it crashes at launch, this guide might help: InDesign crashes on launch.
  4. Did you submit a crash report via the Adobe Crash Reporter tool? If so, sharing the report ID here will allow us to investigate further. Learn more about submitting crash reports here.

Once you share this information, we can explore more targeted troubleshooting steps. Thank you for your patience, and I look forward to helping you resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Good morning, thank you for your prompt reply,
I have not made any changes to the settings, nor installed any plugins.
Yes I have tried opening idesign in Safe Mode.

The Indesign shutdown happens before you open the program and yes I did all the tests with the guide in the link.
I have sent a lot of reports and I think you mean this with report ID:

{"app_name":"Adobe InDesign 2025","timestamp":"2024-12-04 17:32:53.00 +0100","app_version":"20.0.1.32","slice_uuid":"fb409b9d-73ed-3f7f-8f41-0d4322185132","build_version":"20010","platform":1,"bundleID":"com.adobe.InDesign","share_with_app_devs":0,"is_first_party":0,"bug_type":"309","os_version":"macOS 15.1.1 (24B2091)","roots_installed":0,"name":"Adobe InDesign 2025","incident_id":"B64E04B0-D884-4CE9-8ED5-A3A475652BB2"}

Hello @YENI TATIANA SARTORI,

Thank you for the additional details and the crash report. I understand that this issue has been quite persistent. Let’s try a new step to help narrow down the cause.

It’s possible that the issue could be related to your user profile. Let’s create a new user account on your Mac and check if InDesign works there.

You can follow this guide from Apple on how to create a new user account:
Create a New User Account on macOS

Once you’ve set up the new user account, please log into it and try opening InDesign. If InDesign works fine in the new user account, we’ll know that the issue is specific to your current user profile.

Let me know how it goes, and we’ll continue troubleshooting from there.

Good morning,
now with a new Mac user, indesign works as before.
I don't understand why out of the blue it wouldn't go on the previous one, is there any way to figure it out to prevent it from happening again?

thank you,

Yeni Sartori

LATEST

Good morning Yeni,

Thank you for the update! It’s good to know that InDesign is working fine with the new user account.

The issue might be tied to your original user profile, where certain preferences, settings, or files may have become corrupted. To pinpoint the cause and prevent it from happening again:

  1. Sometimes, corrupted preferences can cause unexpected issues. I recommend resetting the preferences on your original user account. Here’s a link with instructions: Reset Preferences in InDesign.

  2. Ensure that your original user account has the correct file and folder permissions for InDesign. Misconfigured permissions could cause problems with accessing required resources.

  3. If you’re using any third-party extensions or plugins, try disabling them to see if they might be interfering with InDesign’s functionality.

If the issue continues, we can explore other options, but starting with these steps could help resolve the underlying cause. Let me know how it goes!
