InDesign will not start. A Crash Report screen appears.
Two choices: Send report or Do not send.
I have been sending the Crash Report for a week now but get no response from Adobe. So what's the point?
I've never had a problem with InDesign, using it every day for more than10 years.
CC 2019; Windows 10; masses of memory; huge storage, best CPU; etc, etc, etc. Something suddenly changed last week.
I've reilstalled, etc, etc, etc. With and without preferences.
I've noted loads of similar reported problems over the years but none suggest the answer. I shouldn't have to go into the guts of InDesign and do things to files.
Has anyone got a genuine and simple answer to the problem?
Why do I get zero response to sending the Crash Report?
I cannot get into InDesign and I have work to do!
Many thanks.
BK
Hi Sanyam,
Thanks for the response.
After trying everything I could think of I finally found the answer which I hope may be useful to anyone else with the same problem.
I deleted references to previous versions of InDesign: 2016, 2017, 2018 from the InDesign program file.
Then did the usual stuff I'd done before ... uninstalled and cleaned everything using CCleaner and installed InDesign 2019 CC and it worked.
Deleting the references to previous versions was the key.
Onwards and upwards.
Thanks for you

Hi,
Thank you for sharing the crash report with Adobe. We are currently investigating the issue. Looking at the crashes reported by you, initial investigation suggests that the issue is unique to you and is not being faced by other users.

By any chance, is there a possibility that you would have taken a backup of the preferences. If yes, Can you share them at santalwa@adobe.com so that we can have a look at them.

I didn't keep a backup of the preferences, sorry.
In my reply I may have confused the issue with the word "references" which was not a typo of "preferences".
Previous versions of InDesign were listed below "2019 CC" in the InDesign program file. Deleting these and reinstalling InDesign cured the problem.
However, I have no idea why the problem suddenly arose when I have used InDesign every day for over 10 years. I'm just relieved it's working!
Thanks for your help, Sanyam.
