InDesign crashes at least once a day and resets all my preferences

I work in InDesign all day long and for a long time it was working just fine but the last month or so it will just randomly reset all my preferences and settings, all of my recent files disappear, all my recently used fonts, and this will happen sometimes three or four times a day. It also crashes on me at least once a day. I am on the most recent update, and I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Please help!

by '..all of my recent files disappear.." do you mean your listing of recent files is reset or do you mean the actual files are deleted?

if the later, it's not an indesign-specific problem.  do a virus scan.

if it's the former it's part of your preferences/settings reset problem.  look some program (eg, av) that's removing/cleaning those preference/settings files.

Can you try logging into your Mac as a new or guest user? Once logged in, do some work in ID and see if the problem still exists.

I would try to repair permissions and structur of the Mac. If the preferences are not written or remembered it is often caused by damaged writing and reading permissions. Best would be to start the Mac from the Repair Partition which is usally selectable during start, if you hold the ALT key after starting the Mac.
