InDesign Data Merge (RUNNING TEXT) multiple records per page... USED to work

This has been driving me NUTS. It used to work a long time ago. All of the sudden it doesn't work anymore. If my memory is failing me, please feel free to correct me... I'm getting too old for this

The Goal: To get a running directory of physicians and their contact info. Key word RUNNING... meaning text. Not a bunch of individual text frames. ONE FRAME.

I will link files showing that this used to work. I now have 2018 updates to these and cannot get it to work. WHY did Adobe break the way this works? All I can get is a single record per page (not even threaded) with MANY pages (single record per page). Yes, I use this easily for business cards, tent cards, and even form letters.

Please don't tell me I have to resort to doing a mail merge in Word or something stupid like that.

Thanks in advance!

Data Merge fields are:

<<Specialty>>

Dr. <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>, <<Title>> <<ACN>>

<<Address>>, <<City>>, <<State>> <<Zip Code>>

(paragraph return between each line)

The one frame per record is what ID has always done.

Perhaps you've used the InLineMerge script in the past?

Thanks Mike... I could have sworn I was able to do this in the past. Thanks for the link to the InLine Merge script... that does the trick. Rich

I agree with MW Design, Data Merge has never had the ability to merge multiple records into the same textframe as there is no "next record" field that would allow this to happen. However, I have a video that outlines several ways to accomplish this task: Episode 16: Data Merging into the same Text Frame - YouTube

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!
