Indesign is never using more than maximum 17% of CPU. Slow/hanging.

Hello!

I have a BIG problem that Indesign is very slow / hanging.

I have tried to uninstall and install many times. If I downgrade to older version the .indd file is not correct any more. So that´s not a solution.

I mean that this very slow / hanging Indesign is after update. Have never ever been a problem before. I can sometimes wait for

30-60seconds after I have move an object or click on a table! I have notice that CPU never EVER is over 17% for indesign.exe.

And CPU is not used by anything else. I have tried to change CPU priority to "real time" and high, but no change. Never over 17% anyway.

Used memory is between 1,2GB and 2,5GB.

Computer is:

Intel i7-6700K 4,00GHz

16GB memory

Windows 10 Home

Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980.

And like I wrote above, I have never got this problem before.

Anyone that have a solution?

I have tried to find answer for my problem without success.

Best Regards

Henrik

Isn’t that just using one of your six cores flat out, which is what I‘d expect?

This is a year old discussion. What is your specific problem, and exact InDesign version (not "latest" please)?

I am using indesign version 13.1. my document have 300 pages. When I run the script first 50 pages its process 5 min and its take 3 hours to complete the document.

Indesign is never using more than maximum 15% of CPU and Indesign is very slow / hanging.

Check out the approaches on this website: https://trainingonsite.com/featured/speed-up-indesign.html

With large documents its also best to reduce the Display Performance to Typical setting. This will give more processing power to the program.
