When hovering over the "InDesign" menu (top of the screen), you can see “Preferences” as expected. However, when you hover over “File” or any other menu item and go back to"InDesign", the entry “Preferences” disappears, as shown in the screen capture. I thought I was going crazy as I couldn’t find my preferences until I realized that this is a glitch.
The “About InDesign” option also disappears.
I am using the newest Sonoma version 14.5 (23F79) and InDesign 19.4 on a MacBook Pro M3 Max. The bug is reproducible on a MacBook Pro M3 Pro running Sonoma version 14.1.2.

Never noticed before
On 14.4.1 here - and it does the same thing in InDesign 2022
I just go out of it and come back in and. it's back again
Not really sure why - if you want preferences then press CMD K on the keyboard shortcut - that's how I get to them all the time.
