Indesign: Opentype icon and dialogue box stops editing

Community Beginner ,

When I highlight some text, the Opentype icon pops up in the bottom right hand corner of the text.

I like to highlight the whole text and then immediately type, instead of hitting delete and then writing text.

BUT! This Opentype pop up prevents me from editing the text first time and it's driving me mad!

So in the above example, writing "Cheese" over "cheese", the very first letter would be missed so I would end up with "heese".

Is there anyway I can stop this infuriating little Opentype icon?

Thanks!

Hi samw70279737 ,

I think you discovered a known bug with InDesign CC 2018.1 on Windows.

There is a bug fix available you can download and install:

First character is skipped while typing on Windows

Regards,
Uwe
