InDesign + OS X Mavericks = Slooow?

Participant ,

Since updating, I don't know what is going on, but I'm experiencing awfully slow performance from InDesign.

I have a MBP Retina 15 Inch 2.3Ghz, 16Gb Ram. Put it this way, I've never, ever experienced that slow feeling on this thing. Never. And suddenly after installing Mavericks, I'm experiencing that slow motion feeling.

Is it just me, or is anyone else getting this?

An update for InDesign CC (9.2) is now live and is available via the creative cloud installer. This update resolves several performance problems. In addition, the update includes epub enhancements, Typekit Desktop Font Integration and Hyperlink simplification. Please give it a try.

I have IDCC now working much smoother although it has crashed a couple of times. I basically did a Cmd R restart and repaired/verified my hard disk before normal reboot.

I have found it lasts until I restart in the a.m. after a sleep - if I have left documents open as usual, I can work on them until I copy something from one into another. It then hangs. Weirdly at the same time, I can watch my background folders in Finder do a little "pulse" thing while I am watching the beachball, as if it's trying to save something but can't quite complete it. So I force quit and restart and it seems fine. The workspace changes and I lose my open palettes but so far it has behaved a bit more (Advanced Workspace seems stable).

Three days now and it's been OK.

I do think that Mavericks has caused some network issues with IDCC but it seems to be OK at the moment. I'm even able to use Suitcase and highlight text without waiting forever.

None of that seems fine. That seems like jumping through hoops none of us

should have to jump through considering we are paying a monthly fee for a

below par program.

Hi guys!

I was looking for the answer the same trouble & found this topic. In my case...... i guess trouble not in Maverick, Mac etc. I have Win7, 64bit, stationary PC. Intresting case: I have the same problem - slow typing, slow entry to text frame near about 1-2-3 sec while InDesign "getting inside text frame" etc. Just now i tried to check 2 difference documents: one of them - the magazine for print, one - web publication (not for print). But there is no problem in that. I just remember that first doc was created in CC (or CS6), & ssecond doc was created in CS3. But now I'm not sure, cuase it was 5-6 month ago & I don't remember.... but I suppose it looks like one kind of trooth. I fact: i have 2 docs in the same time: first magazine - it goes fast in program & there's no problems with typing, second - web publication that give me problems with slow typing etc - it looks like the reason in earlier CS version creation.

It's not a magic pill for everyone, but any food for thought - may be try to rebuild an old  template in new CC

Hi Samen and all

I do believe there are still issues. I had reverted back to CS6 and all was fine, no probs. I just wasn't prepared to lose deadlines and fight the software, hence being quiet. Dinkar at Adobe and I have exchanged a couple of emails and basically even after deleting IDCC prefs from the Library folder (making sure it's the User folder - type: ~/library” ) it was still having intermittent issues.

What's odd is that I have now done a clean install on a brand new all-singing 27" imac SSD with 24GB RAM (fast at everything) and there seems to be a similar issue between Adobe Typekit and Suitcase. I wonder if that's the problem. Typekit keeps "interfering" when I open a document.

After a long time, the issue was solved more or less (Indd CC working still much slower than CS6, but almost acceptable), when the 2014-version came along and everything slowed down again. I can count to 30, watching my mouse moving from one side of the screen to the other when working with Indd CC 2014. Good job there, Adobe! Now fix it.

I had some success by turning of anti-aliasing in the "Display Performance" options of the ID preferences.  I had to close and re-open the current file after doing that though.  Not sure if that's enough of a permanent fix, since it makes the type and imagery look jagged (naturally), but enough to keep you working.
