Can you save it as IDML?

Can you save it on a different drive?

Can you save it as a different user on the same computer?

Hi Prashanth_Pothuganti

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry to hear you're having trouble saving the file. In addition to what our expert has asked, could you please confirm where the file is saved? Is it a cloud document, a local file, an External drive, or a Network location? Is it happening with all files or with a specific file?

Please share the details of your operating system and the version of InDesign installed on your machine.

We will be happy to assist you further.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hi Team,

I am using Windows 10 with the latest 2025 version of Adobe InDesign.

The issue occurs only with one specific InDesign file. All other InDesign files are working and saving without any problems. This particular file shows the error message “InDesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but it appears to be damaged” when I try to save it.

I have noticed that the issue happens when the file is stored on the Desktop. When I move the same file to another location (such as Documents or another drive), the behavior changes, which suggests it may be related to file corruption or the save location.

Please let me know the best way to recover or repair this file, or if there are any recommended steps specific to the 2025 version to prevent this issue from recurring.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,
Prashanth

Thanks for sharing the additional info. Would you mind confirming whether you're using OneDrive or a similar software to sync files from your desktop? If yes, try temporarily disabling the sync software and share your observation.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hi Team,

Yes, I have tested the following:

* I am able to save the file as IDML.

* I have saved the file on a different drive, and the issue persists.

* I have also tried saving the file using a different user account on the same computer, but the problem remains the same.

Please let me know the next steps or if you need any additional information from my side.

Best regards,
Prashanth
