Hello everyone I am an IT tech and I changed one of the students Indesign to Spanish by going into the file and chaning the language on the Workspaces and Shortcuts folder. A while later after the student was working he is unable to click on anything in InDesign but can click fine on any other program. Students are on MACs. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate.

Hi @Ryan1990,
I’m sorry to hear about the issue with InDesign. It sounds frustrating. To help resolve this, could you please provide the following details?
1. What version of InDesign is the student using?
2. What version of macOS is installed on the student's Mac?
Additionally, it would be helpful if you could share a screen recording of the workflow showing the unresponsiveness in InDesign. This will allow us to better understand the problem and provide a more accurate solution.
In the meantime, here are a few steps you can try:
1. Reset InDesign Preferences:
- Quit InDesign.
- Relaunch InDesign while holding down Shift + Option + Command + Control (Mac) to reset preferences.
Reference: Set preferences in Adobe InDesign
2. Revert Language Settings:
- Close InDesign.
- Go to **Applications** > **Adobe InDesign** > **Presets**.
- Restore the original language files from a backup, or reinstall InDesign to reset settings.
3. Ensure InDesign and macOS are up-to-date. Check for updates in InDesign via Help > Updates and in macOS via System Preferences > Software Update.
Please let me know if these steps help or if you need further assistance!
Thank you,
Abhishek Rao

The version of InDesign is 18.5 and the MAC is MACOS Ventura Version 13.7
I also have multiple students login to this computer but I only need
it set for 1 user in Spanish so how can I make it where only one
student has Spanish but the rest have English?

Hi @Ryan1990,
Thank you for the details! I understand how important it is to have the language set for just one user while keeping it in English for others.
Please try the below:
1. Create a separate user profile for the student who needs InDesign in Spanish. This will allow that profile to have its own language settings without affecting others.
- Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups, then click the "+" button to add a new user.
2. Set InDesign Language for Specific Profile:
- Once logged into the new user profile, open InDesign.
- Go to Preferences > Interface and select "Spanish" as the preferred language.
- Restart InDesign to apply the changes.
3. For the other students, ensure that their profiles have "English" set as the default language in the InDesign Preferences.
By using different user profiles, each student can have their own custom settings without interference. Let me know if this works, or if you need further guidance!
Thank you,
Abhishek Rao

Hi @Ryan1990,
I understand the challenge you're facing with language settings. Sorry for the confusion here. Since InDesign’s interface language options are not directly adjustable in the Preferences. On a single user account, InDesign only supports one language at a time. To accommodate multiple languages on the same machine, you should create separate user accounts for each language setting.
Please try the below:
1. Change Language in Creative Cloud:
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.
- Click on the profile icon (top right) and select "Preferences."
- Go to the "Apps" tab and scroll down to "App Language."
- Change the language to Spanish for the specific user who needs it.
Reference:
2. Reinstall InDesign in the Desired Language:
- Once the language is set in Creative Cloud, uninstall InDesign.
- Reinstall it, and it should now appear in Spanish for that user profile.
3. Use Separate User Profiles:
- For other students, ensure they use their own macOS profiles to keep their InDesign settings in English. Go to 'System Preferences > Users & Groups', and click the "+" button to add a new user for each language setting.
By using separate user profiles or accounts, each user can have their own custom settings without interfering with others.
For more details on managing user accounts, you can refer to this New user or group setup on Mac - Apple Support (IN)
Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance!
Thank you,
Abhishek Rao

And if you restore the UI language back to English, does the problem go away?
