This issue just started happening today - I am not able to move my indesign window between my two monitors. Yesterday I was able to but not today. It is only happening to Indeisgn - all other Adobe programs work fine. Did I check something?? I have no clue what I could have done??? Is anyone else having this issue? I am on Windows 10 PC.
All my settings were good- it Looks like I had to shutdown and restart my computer and now things seem to be working. Thank you for all your help.

Hi @JSW6,
Thanks for reaching out! To help resolve the issue of not being able to move your InDesign window between monitors, please try the following steps:
To assist you further, could you please share a screenshot of your display settings? Additionally, please confirm that your desktop is extended across the monitors (not duplicated). It would also be helpful to know your operating system version and the make and model of your monitors.
Looking forward to your response!
Best,

Resetting the preferences worked using the startup method - I tried just resetting them when it was open yesterday that didnt work. Thank you for making my day less stressful!!!!!!!

While resetting preferences helped with my window toggle - I can now no longer double click on an indesign file and have it open automatically - I have to open them through in design File - Open? This just started when I reset preferences - All my other Adobe programs work fine. Is there another setting? All my drivers are up to date and all other Adobe programs, illustrator, photoshop, premeire work just fine. Thank you

Hi @JSW6,
Thank you for the update! I’m glad to hear resetting preferences helped with the window toggle issue.
Regarding the new issue with double-clicking on an InDesign file not opening it automatically, this is usually related to file association settings. Please check:
1. Check File Associations:
- Right-click on an InDesign file (.indd), select Open with, and then choose Adobe InDesign.
- Make sure to check the box that says Always use this app to open .indd files.
2. Re-associate File Type in Default Apps (Windows 10/11):
- Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps.
- Scroll down and click on Choose default apps by file type.
- Find the .indd file extension and make sure it’s set to Adobe InDesign.
3. Ensure that your user account has permission to access and open InDesign files, especially if they are stored on a network or cloud drive.
Let me know how it goes, and feel free to share any additional details. We’re here to help!
Best,

Hello, I am having this same issue with latest InDesign (20.0.1) running on a Macbook Pro attached to two Illyama screens and running MacOSX (15.1). I have reset perefrences on startup of App and checked screens are extended but still cannot move InDesign UI from Macbook screen to either one. I can move separate documents windows but the rest of the UI remians on the Macbook screen. Advise please as this is very frustrating as only on InDesign (cannot see the top bar with three coloured dots as can on other Adobe apps). Thanks
