Both last and penultimate version of InDesign won't open a new document, the only way i managed to open and edit one was by downgrading my installed version to another one. Is there something i can do to fix the error in the newer version?
Thanks

You might try to reset preferences/caches and see if it helps.

Please clarify what's happening. What error? What do you mean by "open a new document?"

Good morning @Rishabh_Tiwari ,
Thanks for the answer. I'm not receiving any "error prompt", whenever i click to open a new file after choosing dimensions and everything else nothing happens. It won't make a new document. It stays on the homepage of InDesign.
InDesign version is 18.5, my os is W11.
Thanks!

Experiencing issues with opening new documents in the latest versions of Adobe InDesign could be caused by various factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the error:
Check System Requirements: Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for the latest version of Adobe InDesign. Make sure you have enough RAM, disk space, and a compatible operating system.
Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause issues with Adobe InDesign. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version compatible with your operating system.
Disable Third-Party Plugins: Sometimes, third-party plugins or extensions can interfere with InDesign's functionality. Temporarily disable any third-party plugins you have installed and check if the issue persists.
Reset Preferences: InDesign stores preferences files that can occasionally become corrupted and lead to problems. Try resetting the InDesign preferences to their default settings. To do this, launch InDesign while holding down the Shift, Ctrl, and Alt keys (Shift+Ctrl+Alt for Windows or Shift+Cmd+Opt for Mac).
Check Fonts: Corrupted or incompatible fonts can cause issues with document opening. Remove any problematic fonts from your system and try opening a new document again.
Uninstall and Reinstall InDesign: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe InDesign. Make sure to download and install the latest version from the official Adobe website.
Check for Updates: After reinstalling, check for any available updates for Adobe InDesign. Adobe often releases patches and bug fixes that can address known issues.
Contact Adobe Support: If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Adobe Support for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance tailored to your situation.
Remember to back up your important documents before attempting any troubleshooting steps, as some processes might lead to data loss or changes in settings.
If you were able to open documents successfully in a different version of InDesign, it's possible that the issue lies with the specific installation of the newer versions you were using. By following the above steps, you may be able to resolve the problem and use the latest version of Adobe InDesign without issues.
