Interactive Map Popups Not Closing in Edge and Firefox PDFs

We've produced a report with an interactive map using buttons for popup text windows that open and close. These open and close perfectly on the Publish Online version embedded on our web page and in the downloadable PDF (Chrome browser). However, some of the popups will not close in the PDF via Edge and Firefox. The popups are text boxes with a close button. Could this be a layering issue? Do you have any suggestions?

Hello @Nancy29541297y3td,

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the issues with the popups in your interactive map not closing in certain browsers. I understand how frustrating this must be.

Could you please share which version of InDesign you're using and the details of your operating system?

It’s possible that the issue could be related to how different browsers handle PDF interactivity, or it might be a layering issue, as you mentioned. I’d suggest double-checking the layer order to ensure the close button is on top of all other interactive elements. Additionally, exporting the PDF with the "Interactive PDF" option and ensuring the latest PDF readers are used might help resolve browser-specific issues.

Looking forward to your response.

Thank you,
Abhishek Rao

Does it work in Acrobat/Reader on a desktop? If so, that's all you can do. Browsers and third party PDF Readers are notoriously bad.
