Is there a way I can create an interactive form through InDesign and not have a border show up when entering into a text field - after the file has been exported.
I am trying to make a interactive form for people who don't have acrobat, so they can edit it through PDF preview.

Your question is getting away from what is controlled by InDesign and is moving towards what is controlled in the reader viewing the PDF form. In Acrobat and Reader you would have the ability to turn this off on the user end but not in the document settings. See screen shot below.

Preview on the other hand doesn't have any preferences to control the border behavior when entering a field.
Your results using Preview to fill out a PDF form are going to vary for sure. I'd definitely recommend using Ad

Your results using Preview to fill out a PDF form are going to vary for sure. I'd definitely recommend using Adobe Reader (free) instead of Preview. Basic forms you should be OK, but controlling that border I'm afraid is not possible.
