Hi, before the 2020 upgrade interactive PDFs exported from InDesign were always below 12mb. Now they are exporting around 40+mb. When I do reduce file size in Acrobat it doesn't help either. What gives? Any way to fix this?

What were your PDF export settings before and now?

Mike, I'm unsure of the settings before. I was just using the default settings. Now I'm using interactive PDF with no options checked under "options," compression to jpg lossy, high, and 300ppi.
I've tried changing the ppi, but the PDF becomes blurry and actually does not decrease much in file size.

Hi Willi, I'm exporting to interactive PDF with no options checked under "options," compression to jpg lossy, high, and 300ppi.

The document is mosty text, pasted graphics, and placed images. The strange thing, to me, is that I've been recreating this type of file over and over again for years and never had a problem with PDF file size. It's a client presentation deck and I recycle the same type of images and content over and over again.

More details about your file will help us better troubleshoot your issue. Have you tried saving the document as a different version? Sometimes underlying history and meta data can bloat your files. Also, are you using layers? Embedded oversampled images? I know you mentioned that previously your files were only 12mb. Are they the exact same content? More details will help us help you.
Thanks
Dax

Thanks for your response! What version would I save the file as other than InDesign 2020 document? I've never saved my InDesign files as different file formats before just to export.
I usually only use up to 2 layers in InDesign. I don't embed images.
Most of my files are not the exact same content but are using very similar types of content. For context, I set up decks for client presentations. I recycle the same format and same images over and over again, so the file size shouldn't change that drastically from file to file. I've set up tens of these previously and never had a problem exporting to an Interactive PDF, so that's why I'm confused why the PDF is so large now after the update!
