I work on catalogs and I use the "Publish Online" action and I want to be able to have a button for my clients to use. How is this created in Indesign. I have not been able to find any tutorials regarding this. Thank you in advance for any assistance in this matter.

It definitely could not be created in InDesign by itself and not in Publish Online.

It sounds like you need to be using a web interface or an app for your catalog where it could be programmed, probably with JavaScript. My best guess.

do you have any idea where I would look for this web interface or app, and is this something I would do before I used the "online publishing" I am very very green when it comes to JavaScript. But my understanding is that you can add script to Indesign.

Thank you so much Steve for your quick response!

You can run scripts from within InDesign to affect InDesign and the document(s) you have open in InDesign. Scripts are not attached to documents and can only be run using InDesign.

If it needs to be searched, create a PDF and be done with it.

Actually, Bob has a great idea. When you using Publish Online, you have the option of including a PDF (Print) document which your viewers can download. They can use that for searching:

Use Publish Online to publish your InDesign documents
