Issue with Constrain Proportions in InDesign 2025 (20.0)

Constrain proportions for width and height in InDesign 2025 (20.0) is broken. In previous versions of InDesign the constrain-status would stay the way you selected always, now you have to link it every time you scale something, it's quite annoying and adds an extra step to workflow.

My problem is that the constrain proportions in the top bar doesn’t stay locked between one object and the next, I have to keep locking it every single time, which is very annoying.
Previously, I only had to lock it once and it stayed that way all the time.

I have exactly the same problem. No matter if an object is selected or not, the constrain proportions always reverts to Unlinked.

I'm also having the exact same problem since updating to Indesign 2025 and it's slowing my workflow down sooooo much! It's so frustrating that such a basic yet integral feature can be broken in an update like this 😭

I have the exact same issue. Yes, please Adobe fix this issue ASAP or provide an alternate solution. This is not making me feel productive as Adobe claims the CC tools should make me feel.

I had to reset preference with the update, it didn't import my previous preferences, so I'm not doing that again, it's a pain.

In the 2024 version of InDesign, the chain icon for 'Maintain proportions for width and height' was automatically activated. In InDesign 2025, it is disabled by default. Where can I adjust it so that it remains automatically activated? Can anybody help? Thx.

I beleive like most preference items you should be able to set this with no files open, close and reopen InDesign and it should be set for new files. It may or may not be set for old files when you reopen them.

Hi Abhishek  - thanks for your response. I'm sure other members/users would agree - soon is rather than later and it is always highly frustrating when something worked perfectly prior to an update and then 2 weeks later it is still not fixed.

Any update on this issue? That is so annoying. Every time I have to click w&h to lock proportions... It is so simple and so frustrating at the same time...

Ok come on, it's been another 6 days. What's going on at Adobe? Surely you can trace this bug back to the last update and see where this has gone wrong at your end. This is highly frustrating if you have to use ID every day like us folk who are trying to earn a living. Please, please please, get someone on this.
