Issues with Updating Logo Across Multiple Spreads in InDesign

Hello!

I am currently working on a publication and they have their logo in the lower corners throughout the entire publication. The client expressed concerns that it was too fuzzy and so I rebuilt the a vector.

When linking the new vector to the Parent spread, and applying it to the repective pages, nothing seems to take. The other logo remains. The old logo on the interior spreads is within a gray box that cannot be moved or accessed, which confuses me because I cannot locate any other locked elements in my layers panel and the unlock feature in the objects panel is not available to me (assuming because I can't even select it).

The biggest source of my confusion is this: All the links that I can see and are listed in the panel have been changed to the new vector (PNG), applied to other pages and still remains unchanged. Admittedly, this document was built by someone else and I've been doing this for a few years now so it's a bit frustrating that I can't locate what is causing this.

Any thoughts? I may be missing something. I've looked in on all the usual suspects that I can think of.

Hello @Kristen34736890qer6,

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you're facing a frustrating situation with the logo updates in your publication.

To better assist you, could you please let us know which version of InDesign you are using and the details of your operating system? Additionally, is this issue limited to this particular file, or are you experiencing it with other InDesign files as well?

As for the problem you're encountering, it may be related to how the old logo is embedded in the master pages or the way the objects are locked. Please try below:

  1. Ensure that you have the correct layer selected in the Layers panel. Objects can be on a different layer that is locked.
  2. Open the master page where the logo is placed. If the old logo is embedded there, you may need to select and delete it before applying the new vector logo.
  3. If the new logo is linked but not displaying, try clearing any overrides. Select the pages where the old logo appears and choose "Clear Overrides" in the Pages panel menu.
  4. After making these changes, restart InDesign to ensure that the application refreshes the links and displays the updates correctly.

Let me know if these steps help, or if you need further assistance! Feel free to update the thread.

Best,

Abhishek Rao
