JPEG exported from InDesign is Blurry

New Here ,
Jan 28, 2020 Jan 28, 2020

Created a new web doc in InDesign 600x90. When it came to saving jpeg I left the resolution at 72 (ppi) which is the default and of course, it saves as the correct size but blurry. No images were used all vector-based. Saving it at a higher 300 (ppi) given in the steps to save as a jpeg result in increased size. So how does one create a 600x90 pixel web doc in InDesign but maintain clarity?

If you must use InDesign to create a JPG (wrong tool but I digress), export a PDF, open it in Photoshop and save as JPG there.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I agree with Bob, Photoshop is a better tool to create images. Image quality also depends on the actual resolution of the image. Could you please share the exact workflow? Are you exporting the JPEG from a placed image or from the text or content created in InDesign? Could you please share a few screenshots of the issue?

Also, please confirm if the issue related to a specific document? If yes, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the creative cloud and share the download link.

Regards,

Srishti

But even in Photoshop you will still have a problem if you are trying to resolve small details (i.e. less than 12pt type) in a limited 600x90 pixel grid. Photoshop will not likely do any better with the unresolvable details.
