Library Question

Is there a way to place the contents of a folder And have it automatically update in a Library if more are added?  What I'm trying to do is add bar codes to my library but the only way i'm seeing to do this is to add them in indesign 1 at a time.  I have far too many for this.

No. But we can help expedite the library creation.

You can place all the barcodes on the page at one time.

  • Make a new (large) doc.
  • File > Place.
  • Select all the files in the folder.
  • Drag out a box with the loaded text cursor, and use the up/right arrows to define a large grid (with enough rectangles for all the loaded images)
  • When you release the mouse, the images will drop into the grid.

You can have multiple barcodes placed on a page, then from the Library flyout, select "Add Items on Page as Separate Objects"

  • Then go back to Jeffrey_Smith's step, above.

This is a quick way to make the library. You will still need to add new barcodes after you create them.
