Missing font not showing alert

I have a document that a coworker exported that has font problems on screen, but InDesign did not alert that fonts were missing. The fonts are now loaded, and the problem is fixed. Is there something wrong with InDesign or a setting that needs to be turned on to make sure these alert happen? Also, why is the font showing correctly even though it's not installed?? Thanks!

Perhaps restoring InDesign preferences:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

No need for that, just use the reset all warnings button in the General section of the Prefs.
