This is breaking my brain, so any help is appreciated.
I have a grey rectangle shape on my masters working as background for the footer, but when I export the file to PDF, this shape is nowhere to be seen.
It's set up like this:
The exported PDF:
Here's the catch though: I used the option "Override All Parent Page Items" on a few occasions, and the grey rectangle DOES print on these pages.
This is what I already tried to do:
- Checked the Attributes panel to see if the object was marked as nonprinting.
- Exported an idml file to see if would magically clean up what's wrong.
- Deleted the shape and created another one, also testing different colors and opacity settings.
One weird thing I've noted when I tested different stuff is that if I create a shape completely inside the boundaries of the page, it will export just fine, but if the shape goes out of frame (like the footer rectangles which go over to the bleeding edges) it will disappear.
I do have the option to override the parent items on ALL pages of the document, but of course that's not ideal. So if anyone could shed any light on what could be happening, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

So to sum this up:
There was no problem at all with InDesign export to PDF feature.
The issue was a "problem" in the app the PDF was opened with.
A preference that a user had set and a preference that no-one can control who is exporting to PDF with InDesign:

Yep. Thankful that the thread showed up as a related conversation. I never would have figured this one out.
