Hi!

I can not import my mp4 file to InDesign CC 2017 trial. I get a message "Import failed". What could be the problem?

Does it work with other files or does it fail with all MP4 files?

If you want to put the file on dropbox and post a link someone will take a look.

Most likely this video's codec is incompatible for Indesign import. You will need to use a video utility to convert video and with H.264 codec.

You can use the Adobe Media Encoder which comes installed with InDesign and a Creative Cloud subscription.

I've opened my MP4 file (that won't import into indesign giving me the error message of 'Import Failed') in Media Encoder and it's telling me the file is H.264, what do I convert it to so it's compatible with Indesign?

MP4 with H.264 encoding should work in InDesign. This discussion is more than six years old.

Please start a new one with full details on your issue if the file doesn't work.
