Numbering without datamerge

Hello everyone, 

Does anyone know of a plugin that allows you to create a 'numbered data merged pdf', without having to create an excel sheet and actually do the data merge... just by typing in the start and end numbers?

So for example, I have 20,000 pages that I need numbering from 54,321-74,321
I would normally create a csv, and do a datamerge from this (quick enough if you don't have 100+ files to do).
What would be amazing is having a feature or plugin where I can just type in those two numbers (start and end), and it outputs my pdf.

Would it be an option to place a textbox on the master page with just an A inside it, give that A a page marker for the current page (select the letter and press option + shift + cmd + N) and set the page number  of your first page to 54321 (or whatever you need)?

Don't suppose you have an idea for something that gets printed 2 up?

So for example tickets that need to be 4 on a page. This works great for 1 numbering box on a page, speeds things up so much. Now I'm trying to speed up a multi layout job...
