Object Transform Function inDesign

need to rotatemy object 90 degree, but the transform controls are disabled(grayed out). What can I do to re-enable them?

What operating system and what version of InDesign are you using? Can you show a screen shot of what you are trying to do and what panels you're using to do so? You can also try selecting your object with the regular selection tool (black arrow) and with that tool still selected hover the cursor next to a corner point and when you see the double arrow icon drag the object in the direction that you want it to rotate. You can also use the rotate tool (bundled under the scale tool). With the object selected double-click on the rotate tool and a dialog will appear in which you can put the exact number of degrees you want to rotate the object. You can set the reference point icon in the Control Panel to determine whether you want the object to rotate from the center or from one of the corner or side points.
