Opening a file without checking linked images

Is there a way to open an InDesign file in a sort of "safe mode" that doesn't try to check all the image links upon opening?

We recently moved from a local server to cloud-based image storing, and large files are taking ages to open while it crawls for links that we know don't exist anymore.

Well, I wish there was a way to delete this. It's in Preferences > File Handling, in case anyone comes across this in the future.

I'll leave your query and mark it as correct. That way if someone does a search for the same question, they can find your answer.
