Hi community!
We're a global non-profit that delivers a Social and Emotional Learning programme for Early Years. Our programme consists of around 70 children's books that constantly need to be translated into several languages. We are looking for an InDesign script developer that can help us do the following:
The initial objective is that the script can extract the texts from our books in InDesign, capture them in a CSV file so that a translator can include the translations of all the texts there, and then we can import that same file into InDesign so that it automatically includes the translations where the original texts were, maintaining the formatting of the texts.
If you are qualified to do that or know someone who might, please contact me at natalia.tertusio@thinkequal.org. If successful, there might be additional projects along the way.
Kindly,
Natalia

Most of the translation services need IDML file - so no need to export / import.
But you'll need to do some post-processing to fix texts.
Or this can be included in the translation service.
But if you prefer your way - I'm happy to help.

Thank you so much for your input! If we still decide to develop a script, I'll reach out!

My tool is already available for testing - but it's PC only.
It can export texts - all or only some - any way you want, into Excel - directly or as a CSV file, WORD - as a table, with extra columns for languages, etc.
It could even export to an online database if you've a custom website for translation - I've done project like that for STANLEY Eastern Europe few years ago to manage and translate product catalogs.
Importing back and post-processing also isn't a problem at all and can be fully automated.

You should take a look at InCopy, it was made for you.
And your exchange process with translators will be greatly simplified.
