When I first used InDesign, I had an overflow text issue. I couldn't figure it out how to resolve it, so I made "enough pages" to cover all of the text and then deleted unnecessary pages. Is there a more civilized way of resolving an overflow text issue? Thank you!

If you're working on a document with multiple pages you can use the Smart Text Reflow feature, described here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/threading-text.html.
Look for the Uase Smart Text Reflow heading
If you're working on article, and you need to see how much text overset, use the Story Editor (Edit > Edit in Story Editor). It will show you how much text is overset.
